Meristem

A meristem is the tissue in all plants consisting of undifferentiated cells and found in zones of the plant where growth can take place. They are found on tips of roots, the stem, and on the buds of plants.

Pteridophyte

Pteridophytes are vascular plants (plants with xylem and phloem) that produce neither flowers nor seeds, and are hence called vascular cyrptogams. Instead, they produce and disperse only through spores.

Long-Day Plant

A long-day plant requires fewer than hours of darkness, but instead, more hours of daylight to induce flowering. These plants typically flower in the northern hemisphere during late spring or early summer as days get longer. Other long-day plants include spinach, wheat, barley, and peas.

Niche

Niche is a term describing the relational position of an organism in its ecosystem to ther organisms. The ecological niche describes how an organism makes a living and how it responds to competitors. The fish in the tank competes with the other fish in its tank for food, mates, and room.

Conifer Leaf

Conifer leaves are on the trees or shrubs of woody plants. They are cone-bearing seed plants wit vascular tissue. Most are trees, but the few others include cedars, cypresses, pines, and redwoods.

Endotherm

An endotherm is an animal that regulates its own body temperature, typicaly by keeping a constant level. To regulate body temperature, an organism may need to prevent heat gains in arid enviroments. Animals with a body covered by fur have a limited ability to sweat, relying heavily on panting more than evaporating water across skin through sweat glands for cooling the body temperature.

Fruit- Fleshy with Seed

Fruit fleshy with see usually refers to the fleshy seed-associated structures of certain plants that are edible and sweet in the raw state such as apples, oranges, grapes, and even tomatoes.

Flower Ovary

An ovary is a part of the female reproductive organ of a flower. It is apart of the pistil which holds the ovules and is located above or below or at the point of connection with the base of the petals and sepals.

Radial Symmetry

Organisms with radial symmetry resemble a pie where several cutting planes produce roughly identical pieces. They exhibit no left or right sides, but a top and bottom (dorsal and ventral).

Pollen

Pollen is a fine powder containing microgametophytes of seed plants. Pollen grains have a hard coat that protect the sperm cell during the proccess of their movement between stamens to filaments.
